The Coromandel is a New Zealand summer hot spot, famous for locations such as Cathedral Cove, New Chums and Hot Water Beaches and the Waiau waterfall and kauri grove. Cathedral Cove is located in the Te Whanganui-A-Hei Marine Reserve and photos from this spot are iconic to New Zealand. Best for sunrise and astrophotography, but also beautiful and peaceful at sunset. A drive to the northern parts of the Coromandel, such as Port Jackson is in my near future plans. Coromandel has a multitude of beautiful beaches and bays.
Bay of Plenty is known for fruit growing, amazing east coast beaches and one of the North Island's Great Walks: Lake Waikaremoana. The area is also famous for the iconic Mauao/Mt Maunganui, more colloquially known as “The Mount”. A steep but short hike, it’s a stunning spot to watch the sunrise or sunset. Bay of Plenty is also home to beautiful waterfalls such as Kaiate Falls and Omanawa Falls.
